Parmenter online auction closes with a bang

Over $30,000 raised

Parmenter Community Health Care's first online auction, held during April, ended with a surge of bidding and sponsorships that contributed over $ 33,000 to support non-profit health care and community service programs. Martha Ragones, Parmenter trustee and chair of the auction committee, said, "The response was just terrific. We had over 200 items to offer and bidders came to our auction website not only from Wayland, Weston, and Sudbury, but also from Arizona, California, New Jersey, and Texas."

Tom Travers, Parmenter trustee president, said, "Our online auction was the work of dozens of sponsors, auction donors, staff, and volunteers who made this possible. The Wayland Retired Men's Association, for example, helped enormously in getting the word out by putting up dozens of lawn signs and banners."

 

Some auction bidders spent more than the stated value of an item in order to give Parmenter a fundraising boost. Others got real bargains. Bidders competed for contributions from many local businesses, and also internationally, including a stay at a posh Paris hotel, Caribbean venues, and autographed sports keepsakes. Parmenter teamed up with Silent Partners, a California company that obtains auction donations nationally, to increase the number and variety of items. The auction was hosted by Bidding For Good, a Cambridge, MA company that has created a national resource for hundreds of nonprofit groups holding online auctions.

 

Cindy Mayher, Parmenter CEO, reminded everyone who was involved in the auction that our sponsors, especially local businesses that went the extra mile to help, really made a crucial difference. Business sponsors included Acela Graphics of New England, Cambridge Trust Co., Care Anywhere, Fred C. Church Insurance, Hamilton Law Office, PC, Keystone Staffing Associates, Marlborough Savings Bank, Middlesex Savings Bank, NSK, Inc. Information Technology Services, The Paper Store, Partners Benefit Group to name a few,  and donations from individuals.

 

Support like this helps put the ‘community’ in Parmenter Community Health Care.  Parmenter plans a repeat of the online auction in the spring of 2013.
