Tue	09/14/10	Home Alone/Home Safety
4:00 PM — 7:00 PM		This course is designed for children ages nine to eleven years old who are unattended at home for short periods of time. Children learn telephone and door answering techniques, accident and fire prevention, and first aid skills. The class includes a variety of teaching methods, including active discussion, a video and role playing. Snacks are provided.This class is sponsored by Wayland Park and Recreation and Parmenter Community Health Care.

7:00 PM — 8:00 AM		Join Whole Foods Market in-house certified Yoga instructor from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Parmenter Auditorium located at 266 Cochituate Road (Route 27). Please bring a $5.00 donation to the Wayland Food Pantry and your own mat or towel. Plan to arrive 5-10 minutes early as the class begins promptly at 7:00. First-time participants are asked to register at Wayland Whole Foods Markets 508-358-7700.

4:00 PM — 7:00 PM		This very popular class introduces children ages 11- 14 to all aspects of babysitting. Content includes strategies for the babysitter, first aid and choke saving techniques as well as mealtime, bedtime, diapering and discipline. Issues of contracts and ethics are also covered. A police presentation on safety issues includes door and telephone answering techniques, and accident and fire prevention.

6:00 PM — 9:00 PM		This course teaches basic first aid for children. Topics include victim assessment of allergic reactions, heat and cold-related emergencies, poisonous plants, eye injuries, tooth loss, and first aid kit suggestions. All class particpants qualify for a Class Completion Card. Teachers and day care providers should inform the instructor if you need one. A first aid book is included in the registration fee.
