Although we need to maintain our independence, pride and control we must also be aware of many safety considerations.

This very popular class introduces children ages 11- 14 to all aspects of babysitting. Content includes strategies for the babysitter, first aid and choke saving techniques as well as mealtime, bedtime, diapering and discipline. Issues of contracts and ethics are also covered. A police presentation on safety issues includes door and telephone answering techniques, and accident and fire prevention. This course teaches basic first aid and life-saving techniques. It fulfills requirements for child care workers. This course teaches people 13 and older how to perform CPR and choke-saving maneuvers on infants, children and adults. All class participants qualify for a Class Completion Card from the American Heart Association. If you are a teacher or day care provider in need of a card, please tell the instructor. Heartsaver/CPR Friends & Family This course teaches basic first aid for children. Topics include victim assessment of allergic reactions, heat and cold-related emergencies, poisonous plants, eye injuries, tooth loss, and first aid kit suggestions. All class particpants qualify for a Class Completion Card. Teachers and day care providers should inform the instructor if you need one. A first aid book is included in the registration fee. This course is designed for children ages eight to eleven years old who are unattended at home for short periods of time. Children learn telephone and door answering techniques, accident and fire prevention, and first aid skills. The class includes a variety of teaching methods, including active discussion, a video and role playing. These free public 30-minute tours will be held on March 12 and March 19 at 11:00a.m. Staff will be available to answer questions.
Parmenter's Wayside Hospice program provides Hospice Care at this Hospice Residence or wherever the patient calls home.
